UK Start-up, Syphan Technologies, Confirmed As The New Standard For 10G IPS At RSA 2009
28th April 2009, Skipton, UK – Syphan Technologies, the leading high performance network security company is claiming a major breakthrough following the successful launch of its ITC220 True 10G security appliance at last week’s RSA Expo and Conference in San Francisco.
The ITC220 is the industry’s first total packet inspection engine capable of delivering an integrated range of security features including IPS, DDoS mitigation and L2 firewall functionality at true 10G line-speed performance without latency. Described as 'leap-frog' technology by one leading US network security analyst, the ITC220 was widely acknowledged at the show as setting the new standard in the 10G IPS sector, significantly raising the bar for the other established industry contenders.
UK-based Syphan chose the RSA Show to launch the ITC220 after 3 years in development. Designed from board-level up to deliver security services for the growing high performance, carrier-grade network environment, the ITC220 is capable of analysing up to 16 million flows, executing up to 50,000 rules and supporting individual security policies for 1000 enterprise VLANs or 500 managed service customers in a single appliance.
The ITC220 achieves its massively increased performance through the use of FPGA chip technology and patent-pending parallel processing and memory-usage techniques, avoiding the need for slower, CPU-based processing and buffering widely used in the previous market-leading technologies, leaving its nearest rivals two orders of magnitude behind in terms of performance metrics.
Designed specifically for the carrier-grade environment, the ITC220 is being targeted at the emerging security-as-a-service sector and high performance data centre deployments with trials due to start with nine major UK and US based hosting providers in May 2009. Advanced discussions are also underway with several security vendors interested in developing technology partnership and OEM relationships
Commenting for Syphan, CEO Pravin Mirchandani said "We were absolutely delighted with the reaction to the US launch, from the media and analysts, from several major end-users, as well as from other vendors and potential channel partners. From the comments we received and the number of major opportunities that were generated, it is clear that we have entered the market with the right product at the optimum time."
Syphan Technologies will be making its European debut at this year’s Infosec Europe exhibition with high expectations of a similar reaction to that generated at RSA. Located on stand M95, Syphan will be showcasing the 1U, ITC220 appliance and demonstrating the system’s innovative management interface and reporting tools.
