UK Technology Breakthrough Powers the First True 10G Integrated Threat Control Appliance
After three years in development, Syphan Technologies has launched the first network security appliance, the ITC220, capable of delivering maximum corporate threat protection in the 10 Gb/ s network environment without impacting high-speed application performance.
15th January 2009 – Skipton, North Yorkshire, UK; Syphan Technologies a developer of carrier-grade network security technology has launched the Syphan ITC220 network security appliance, the first based on its patented FPGA, multi-dimensional parallel processing technology, delivering true 10G performance. The ITC220, in development since 2006, represents a generational leap in network security capability providing protection in the highspeed, 10 Gb/s network environment against the new, more sophisticated and focused HTTP attacks that are now threatening corporate security postures.
Syphan is positioning the technology as an enabler for the emerging cloud computing sector and is initially working with managed secuity service providers interested in entering or extending their offer in the security-as-a-service market. This sector is widely predicted by leading analysts to see rapid $multi-billion growth over the next 3 to 5 years, particularly as companies look for cost savings during the current economic downturn.
The lightening speed performance of the ITC220 is due to Syphan’s unique multi-dimesional parallel processing technology, which enables total packet inspection at a rate faster than the inter-packet gap for up to 50,000 field programmable rule sets. Incorporating proprietary as well as SNORT and Bro rules together with industry standard access control lists, the ITC220 can be used as the platform for the full range of revenue-generating security services including IPS, DDoS, content filtering and stateful firewall functionality in one integrated threat control system.
“Our research has shown that many companies have recognised the practical and commercial benefits that moving to an online, service-based IT infrastucture has to offer, particularly with the wider availability of 10G connectivity, however the issues of performance and data security is cited as a major concern delaying the decision to roll out a full SaaS based IT policy”, commented Syphan CEO, Pravin Mirchandani. “The high-speed security functionality and virtualisation capability of the ITC220 provides MSSPs with the ideal platform on which to build new online, revenue-generating services for their customers. At a time when the economic downturn is forcing organisations to look for more cost effective ways of maintaining their IT infrastructure and preventing data leakage this represents a great opportunity for service providers to grow their security business.”
The ITC220 offers full virtualisation capability for over 500 individual client deployments per appliance with an option to cluster up to 4 stateful appliances making it fully extensible and scalable, which also enables an optimal network architecture for large-scale enterprise deployment.
“Many of today’s security technologies were developed against a totally different threat landscape than the one that is now emerging, and were not designed to operate in the highspeed network environment that is rapidly becoming the standard on the enterprise network”, said Mirchandani. “The ITC220 has been designed from chip-level up to provide protection against the full range of current and future attack vectors, including the latest multi-staged network server attacks, without impacting the performance of high-speed, real-time applications such as VoIP and multi-media streaming.”
The Syphan ITC200 is being distributed through a global network of specialist channel partners, starting in Northern Europe and the US in Q1 2009 followed by the rest of Europe, Asia PAC and China later in the year. Companies interested in becoming a Syphan VAR or MSSP partner are invited to contact Syphan on +44 1756 631 275.
Syphan Technologies is exhibiting at Infosecurity Europe 2009, Stand M95, the No. 1 industry event in Europe held on 28th – 30th April in its new venue Earl’s Court, London. For further information please visit www.infosec.co.uk.
